Strategic Plan

Strategic Initiatives (2019-2022)

The 2017-2019 strategic initiatives set down important roots in terms of learnings and outcomes. As the work of the original strategic initiatives transition into day-to-day operations, it is time to turn our focus to the next 12-36 months and the one most impactful strategic initiative that will drive our collaborative efforts moving forward.

To achieve our True North measure to welcome 11,000+ learners by 2022, NBCC will accelerate the transformation of our programs and services by reducing institutional, operational and preparatory barriers.

Five Deliverables

ACCELERATE flexible programs and courses

While maintaining quality, we will ACCELERATE the implementation of educational programs and courses that maximize flexibility in duration, content, entry requirements, methods of delivery and instructional approaches.

IMPROVE curriculum and design process

We will improve NBCC's curriculum and design process through the application of our Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement approach.

REDUCE institutional and operational barriers

We will reduce institutional and occupational barriers impeding the participation of prospective and current learners, particularly among mature learners, immigrants and newcomers, individuals who are "non-completers" and/or have transferred from another post-secondary institution, and individuals living in rural and/or remote communities.

ALIGN our investments

We will align our investments in professional development, equipment and resources to support staff in leading change, in responding to diverse learner needs and in using technology to deliver flexible programs and services.

ADVANCE Partnerships

We will advance partnerships that serve to increase learner participation, with a specific focus on addressing identified preparatory barriers particularly experienced by mature learners, immigrants and newcomers, individuals who are "non-completers" and/or have transferred from another post-secondary institution, and individuals living in rural and/or remote communities.
