Transitioning Life to College

Transitioning Life to College: A Right-Start Support Program

TLC@NBCC is a transition program designed to assist students, particularly those with accessibility needs or have been out of school for a few years, as they adapt to college life. This year we are delivering TLC in a 2-day virtual format. This year TLC will take place on September 2nd and 3rd, 2020. If you’re interested be sure to register – see details below!

Start the year equipped with skills to help manage your priorities at school and home:

  • For some, college can be intimidating; that is why we bring first-year students together to meet like-minded peers; share experiences and meet new friends.
  • Enjoy workshops designed to ease into your surroundings; learn best practices to manage your course load; and have fun before hitting the books when classes start!

What to expect

  • Meet the Academic Coaching and Learner Services team, learn strategies to be successful in the classroom and find out about NBCC’s Support Services.
  • Meet fellow students; learn the importance of self-advocacy.
  • Various Workshops such as: Navigating Within a Virtual Classroom, Note-taking, Stress Management, Study Tips, Time Management, and more.
  • A virtual lunch break – more opportunity to connect, ask questions, and perhaps meet a few special guests!

Students participating in TLC@NBCC will be better prepared, more comfortable, more knowledgeable, and fully  engaged when they begin college.
