NBCC International Student Guard.me Opt Out

Note: Guard.me opt outs for the Fall 2023 intake are now closed.

Mid-academic year opt-outs are not available for current NBCC students.  NBCC students with an existing GuardMe plan that expires on December 31, 2023 can submit an opt out request with valid New Brunswick Provincial Medicare coverage through the last day of your studies with NBCC through December 31, 2024.

Late opt outs or opt outs submitted by email will NOT be accepted.

The next opt out period is Winter 2024, and will be open between December 4, 2023 and January 19, 2024.

Pre-arrival insurance through Guard.me can be purchased directly from Guard.Me via their website https://www.guard.me/nbcc

International Student Guard.me

All active international students are required to hold the Guard.me Canada Plan from the first day of their Academic Term unless they can meet the opt-out requirements below.

If you can answer YES to one of the following questions, you can submit an opt-out request via the form below.

  • I have valid New Brunswick Medicare coverage through the end of my academic studies in this year, OR
  • I have changed my program and have a valid Guard.me Plan issued by NBCC in the last 12 months.

If your New Brunswick Medicare coverage expires before the last day of your studies for this academic year, an opt-out is NOT available, and it is your responsibility to ensure you reapply for New Brunswick Medicare in advance of its expiry.

For more information on the Guard.me Canada Plan, and the Guard.me Excursion Plan visit https://www.guard.me/nbcc or watch the pre-arrival webinar session.
