NBCC International Student Guard.me Opt Out

NOTE: Guard.me opt-outs for the Spring 2025 intake will be accepted from March 31, 2025, to May 9, 2025

Late opt-outs or opt-outs submitted by email will NOT be accepted.

All Spring 2025 policies will be effective April 20, 2025, through, April 19, 2026, and will be issued by Guard.me directly during the week of May 26, 2025.

International Student Guard.me

All active international students are required to hold the Guard.me Canada Plan from the first day of their Academic Term unless they can meet the opt-out requirements below.

If you can answer YES to one of the following questions, you can submit an opt-out request via the form below.

  • I have valid New Brunswick Medicare coverage through the end of my academic studies in this year.
  • I have recently changed programs at NBCC and have an existing Guard.me policy that will expire after April 19, 2025.

If your New Brunswick Medicare coverage expires before the last day of your studies for this academic year, an opt-out is NOT available, and it is your responsibility to ensure you reapply for New Brunswick Medicare in advance of its expiry.  Applications for Medicare renewal are not accepted for the purposes of opting out.
