All active international students are required to hold the Guard.me Canada Plan from the first day of their Academic Term unless they can meet the opt-out requirements below.

If your New Brunswick Medicare coverage expires before the last day of your studies for this academic year, an opt-out is NOT available, and it is your responsibility to ensure you reapply for New Brunswick Medicare in advance of its expiry.

No. Guard.me policies are purchased for 1 calendar year, and mid-year opt outs are not available.
Yes. Guard.me early arrival insurance is available for purchase for up to 4 weeks in advance of your program start date. Please visit the Guard.me website for details. Early arrival insurance is not coordinated by NBCC.
The GuardMe Excursion Plan provides coverage for critical aid services and out of province emergency services that New Brunswick Medicare will not cover. International students cannot be excluded from this coverage.
