NBCC is a connected learning environment. Depending on your program of study, you may find that technology will play a greater role, not only as you study, but also in your future career. While not all programs have the same technology requirements, all students must have access to the internet to allow for a full educational experience. Technology and connectivity could come through a desktop, laptop or tablet, but must meet the program technology requirements listed. Free wi-fi is provided on all campuses.
To ensure the software required for your program operates properly, we strongly recommend a computer that meets our minimum specifications.

Unless otherwise specified, all NBCC programs will require the following standard computer specifications. These specifications are required in order for you to take part in your educational learning. Internet access is required.

Yes, you can use your own laptop in your program. Your laptop must meet your program’s minimum specifications listed above to ensure the software required for your program operates properly.
It depends on your program and courses. In some classes, laptops are used extensively. In other classes, particularly those that rely on in-class discussion and debate, laptops are used for course management, research, assignments and communication between classes.
You will be provided with the software necessary for your classes. This may include: Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite (word processing, spreadsheets, data management, data presentation), Internet browsers, accounting, and multimedia applications. Other software may need to be downloaded.
