To find previously assessed courses from NBCC and from other post-secondary institutions, you can search by individual course code and/or course name, or you can use the filters to review previously assessed courses by keyword, post-secondary institution, country, approval status or by a combination of all four.
If you know the NBCC course code that you are seeking transfer credit for, start by entering it in the “Search NBCC Course Code and Title” box:
If you are unsure of the course code but know the course name or part of the course name, enter the name or partial name into the “Search NBCC Course Code and Title” box:
If the course has been previously evaluated, you will see the results in the lower half of the screen:
In the above example, you will note that the NBCC course COMM1155 (Applied Writing Skills) was previously assessed and approved for transfer credit based on Centennial College’s COMM141 (Essential Communication Skills).
In the example below, the same course (COMM1155) was previously assessed and rejected for transfer credit based on St. Francis Xavier University’s ENGL1006 (Introductory Survey of Literature in English):
If your search has returned many results, or if you don’t know the course code or course name, you can use the additional filters to narrow down the results:
If you choose to use only the “Search all Fields” option, anything you enter in the search box could yield results specific to the NBCC Course, the Previous Institute, and/or the Previous Courses(s).
In the example below, using the keyword “communication”, results include the course ANAT1024 (Anatomy and Physiology) which was previously assessed and rejected based on NBCC’s HCSS1039 (Healthy Living), HCSS1038 (Elder Nursing Concepts), and PERS1065 (Interpersonal Communication). In this example, there are over 250 results based on the keyword “communication” - rather than scrolling through all the results manually, you can use the filters to help narrow down the results:
If you want to review which NBCC courses have been previously assessed against a specific post-secondary institution or from a specific country, leave all of the fields blank except for the “Select an Institute” and/or “Select Previous Institute Country” drop-down menu(s).
If the post-secondary institution or country you are looking for does not appear in the drop-down menu, that means that no courses offered by that specific post-secondary institution and/or country have been previously assessed.
In the example below, if you select France from the “Select Previous Institute Country”, you will note the two post-secondary institutions that NBCC courses have been previously assessed against:
Important Note: Even though courses may be listed as approved, students still MUST submit an application in order to obtain credit. It is STRONGLY recommended that students continue to attend classes and complete all required assignments until they are notified of their RPL application results.
