Indigenous Applicant Information

P’jilasi / Kulasihkulpon / Welcome! Thank you for considering NBCC for your post-secondary studies. We look forward to helping you on your educational journey.

We’re excited to welcome you to our NBCC community - one that honours and celebrates the diverse identities, cultures, and aspirations of Indigenous learners and their communities. Your journey matters here, and we’re here to support you every step of the way!

NBCC has a designated seat allocated in each of our full-time programs for Indigenous students.  We also partner with New Brunswick First Nation communities to deliver accessible programs onsite within the communities themselves.

Important Considerations when Applying

  • Apply early! NBCC accepts all students on a first qualified, first accepted basis. This means the earlier you get your application in, the better chance you have at getting a seat. Connect with a Recruitment Advisor to find a program that works for you!
  • To increase opportunities and access to programs, a designated seat is allocated for Indigenous applicants in each of our programs and held until June 1st of each year. Indigenous applicants can still apply after June 1st, however a designated Indigenous seat may no longer be available meaning applicants will fall into the total New Brunswick applicant pool.
  • Please ensure to identify your Indigeneity when asked during the application process so that we can allocate your application to one of our designated Indigenous seats and can be eligible for an extended deadline for confirmation payment (when applicable).
  • For step-by-step instructions on the application process visit our How To Apply page.
I received an offer of admission!

Congratulations! Kuli-kiseht!  Welta’si!  The most important thing to note when reading your Offer Letter is the timeline to provide Admissions with a response.

After receiving your Offer Letter (Letter of Acceptance – LOA), a $250 confirmation deposit is due within 14 calendar days (or the date specified in your Application Portal). Your seat is not reserved until this fee is paid. This deadline can be extended if you are seeking sponsorship for your tuition and fees. How your college tuition and fees are being paid determines your next steps.

I am seeking sponsorship from my community and/or sponsoring agency. What are my next steps?
  1. Contact us! Send our Admissions team a message in your NBCC Application Portal as soon as possible to acknowledge acceptance of your offer.
    • It is critical that this contact is made before your confirmation deposit deadline or your offer will be cancelled.
    • Let us know that you are seeking sponsorship for your tuition and fees. This allows Admissions to extend your $250.00 confirmation payment deadline to August 1st.
  2. Have your sponsor complete the Sponsored Student Financial Information Form (pdf). Please ensure the form is completed with specific attention to the following:
    • Your sponsor’s signature is required on the form. Alternatively, your sponsor can provide a letter to accompany the form which includes their signature.
    • Ensure the Financial Section is completed, identifying all costs covered by the sponsorship. Sponsored Financial Information
  3. The completed form and accompanying sponsor letter must be uploaded in your NBCC Application Portal as soon as possible after the sponsorship decision is made to ensure funding is confirmed, and your applicant record updated, prior to the August 1st deadline.
  4. If your sponsor is NOT covering the cost of your $250.00 confirmation deposit, you are responsible for paying this amount on or before August 1st or your offer will be cancelled.
  5. NBCC will send an invoice to your sponsor for all fees identified on the sponsorship form. The invoice will be sent directly to the sponsor 4 to 6 weeks after the start of the term. For any inquiries on the sponsorship invoice, or processing time, please email NBCC Financial Services at AR@nbcc.ca
