Education: P. Eng., Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Saint Mary’s and the Technical University of Nova Scotia, Master’s degree in Post Secondary Education from the University of Southern Queensland (Australia), Journeyman Marine Electrician (NS), Industrial Electrician certificate from New Brunswick Institute of Technology Campus of NBCC, graduate of the Canadian Land Forces Staff College.
Experience: Mike’s work experience spans being a production worker at the J.D. Irving mill on Reversing Falls, an electrical apprentice and journeyman in the Naval Dockyards in Halifax, a maintenance engineer with Nova Scotia Power, to working as an instructor and manager in community and technical colleges in Nova Scotia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. He has also commanded the 33 (Halifax) Service Battalion and the Army Reserve Training Centre Aldershot in the Annapolis Valley. Mike is a lifetime member of Engineers Nova Scotia and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
Behind the Scenes: Mike is an active member of the Rotary Club of Newcastle and participates in the 36 Service Battalion Advisory Board. He and his wife Colleen have two daughters who are now young adults, both graduates of community college and university programs.
