About Wesley Armour

Wesley Armour

A titan of industry, proud NBCC alumnus, and a noted philanthropist, Wesley (Wes) Armour has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in business and in his community. A Member of the Order of Canada, the Order of New Brunswick, and the Order of Moncton, he is known as much for his community support of non-profits, scholarships, and entrepreneurial mentorship as he is for his business acumen.

Wes graduated from NBCC's Business Administration program in 1966 and took over the family business in 1968 at just 22 years of age. He grew a small family-owned enterprise into an industry-leading company employing more than 2,100 people throughout Atlantic Canada. Armour Transportation Systems went on to be recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, a Top 10 Carrier in Canada, and a multiple winner of the Shipper's Choice Award. Wes has been recognized as one of the Top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada and the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce's Entrepreneur of the Year. He was also inducted into the Junior Achievement New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2017, Wes received one of our country's highest honors with his appointment to the Order of Canada, selected for his leadership as an entrepreneur and his dedication to the well-being of his community.

Beyond his business responsibilities, Wes has dedicated himself to supporting organizations that improve the lives of others in his community, chairing a number of capital fundraising campaigns in support of projects, including Friends of the Moncton Hospital, YMCA of Greater Moncton, and Resurgo Place. During his time as CEO of Armour Transportation Systems, the company donated more than $1 million to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Wes has also provided in-kind support to many charity events in southeastern New Brunswick. With his wife Patricia, Wes established the Wesley and Patricia Armour Foundation to enrich the quality of life and well-being of Atlantic Canadians. In his free time, Wes has had many passions, including four-wheeling, motorcycling, boating, and being with his family.

NBCC is proud to recognize the extraordinary contributions of its most celebrated alumnus to New Brunswick's economic and social well-being with the naming of the Wesley Armour School of Business.
