Pre-Approval Application

Please read the following instructions carefully before submitting your pre-approval application:

  • Pre-approval is available to students who have failed or otherwise not completed a course required for graduation. You must be in good financial standing with the college to be eligible for pre-approval.
  • We strongly recommend you seek academic advisement from a Coordinating Instructor before you apply for pre-approval.
  • Since we cannot guarantee that your application will be approved, we recommend that you wait to receive your results before you enroll in an external course.
  • A separate application must be submitted for each pre-approval request.
  • If your application is approved, a credit transfer (CR) will be awarded upon successful completion of the pre-approved course. It is your responsibility to provide the RPL Office (RPL@nbcc.ca) with an official transcript showing that you achieved a grade of at least 60% in the pre-approved course.
  • If your application is denied, you may reapply using a different external course.
  • The results of your application will be forwarded to you by email within 2-3 weeks of submission. Any delays in the expected processing times will be communicated to you by email.
  • Pre-approvals are subject to the Timely Completion provisions of Policy 1312 - Certification and Graduation.
