Program Overview
- Construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of overhead and underground power systems.
- Installation and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission systems by erecting and maintaining poles and towers and connecting power distribution and transmission networks.
- Inspection and testing of overhead and underground power lines and other equipment while adhering to strict safety practices and procedures.
- Receive a combination of classroom and on-the-job training.
- Upon program completion, students will be eligible to write Block 1 of the Powerline Technician trade.
- Regular classes take place at the NB Power training site in Marysville.
- During practicum, students will travel in groups to worksites across the province
Cost: $16,400 (includes tuition, books, safety gear, confirmation fee)
Training Allowance: $310.00/wk during 23-week practicum
Admission Requirements
- High School Diploma, Adult High School Diploma or GED Diploma of High School Equivalency or Essential Skills Achievement Pathway: Post-Secondary Entry High School Diploma or apply as a Mature Student.
- Must be 18 years of age to apply
- Applicants must possess a valid class 5 driver's license
