Who's This Training For?

This training is designed for experienced professionals with 5+ years of work experience in the construction industry who are ready to build expertise in sustainable building practices.

Ideal participants include:

  • Trades professionals looking to expand into sustainable construction
  • Designers, project coordinators, and construction professionals seeking to strengthen their knowledge of green building
  • Individuals with industry experience who are ready to formalize their skills through LEED® Green Associate certification

What You'll Learn

  • Foundational knowledge of green building principles and practices
  • Understanding of high-performance buildings, including energy efficiency and occupant well-being
  • Insight into sustainable design strategies and global sustainability goals
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in green construction
  • Working knowledge of the LEED® rating system and its application

Program Structure

  • November 3 to December 18, 2026
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays | 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • 45 hours over 7 weeks (including independent study)
  • Online + virtual learning sessions

Certification

When you successfully complete NBCC’s Green Building Principles microcredential, you’ll earn a digital badge – a shareable, visual credential that highlights your new skills. Add it to your résumé, LinkedIn profile, or email signature to show employers or clients exactly what you know and can do in the green building industry.

Added Bonus: LEED® Certification

  • Includes the CAGBC LEED® Green Associate KickStarter (prerequisite)
  • Prepares you to write the LEED® Green Associate exam
  • Voucher for exam fee is available upon successful completion of the microcredential
LEED® certification is globally recognized as the standard in sustainable building.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum completion of grade 11
  • Ideal for those with 5+ year work experience in the construction industry
  • Resident of New Brunswick
  • Proficiency in English (see NBCC English Language Requirements).

Registration

Registration Deadline: October 23, 2026

This program is designed for learners who are ready to fully engage and complete all program requirements in preparation for the LEED® Green Associate exam.

As seats are limited and funded, priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to successfully completing the program.
