NBCC’s Going Beyond campaign raises $21.8 million to transform New Brunswick’s workforce

NBCC learners are benefiting from improved connectivity, modernized learning environments, reduced barriers to post-secondary education and much more thanks to the $21.8 million donated to the Going Beyond campaign.

The funds exceed the $16 million goal NBCC set when the campaign launched in June 2022.

Going Beyond invited individuals and organizations to help transform New Brunswick’s workforce as the province faces a critical moment. The campaign set out to accelerate skills development, innovate educational delivery, and reach unprecedented numbers of New Brunswickers.

More than 700 individuals and organizations contributed to the campaign, investing in future generations of NBCC learners. The impact of those gifts is already being felt, including investments in:

  • technology and network capacity, which are being upgraded in 200 classrooms (64 per cent) across all campuses;
  • the Mobile Training Centre, launched in May, has hosted several training sessions, including carpentry, coding, and welding;
  • The Wesley Armour School of Business is live, with new programming offered soon; and
  • student support, with more than $900,000 in bursaries awarded over the last year—the highest ever total.

The overwhelming support of the campaign demonstrates public confidence in the role NBCC plays as a leading post-secondary institution, said Mary Butler, President and CEO of NBCC.

“We are inspired and humbled by the enormous support we’ve received from partners who believe in what we do,” said Butler. “The campaign funds will directly impact tens of thousands of learners, and will echo in our communities for generations to come. We’re grateful to everyone who has contributed to make a difference.

“NBCC is determined to provide an extraordinary experience for our learners, and we will be able to go even further to deliver relevant programming thanks to the support of our partners. We are more motivated than ever to deliver education that works and to be a catalyst for positive, long-term social change in New Brunswick.”

J.D. Irving, Limited co-CEO and Chair of NBCC’s Going Beyond campaign Jim Irving said, “Keeping and growing talented young people here at home in New Brunswick is important to all aspects of our province’s future, and this campaign’s overwhelming success is a testament to that. I’m proud to be part of a campaign and business community that steps up to support the future of our young people, and our province.”

By helping New Brunswickers overcome financial, geographic, and systemic barriers to post-secondary education, the momentum of the campaign is driving NBCC to reach and support more learners.
