FREDERICTON –The Board of Governors of New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) has elected L. Paul Elliott as Board Chair and Patrick Lacroix as Vice-Chair for the 2017-2018 year. The appointments took effect July 1, 2017.
“NBCC and its Board of Governors have gone through significant evolution and growth since becoming a Crown Corporation in 2010,” said Elliott. “The College will soon launch its second five-year strategic plan and the Board looks forward to providing outcome-focused governance to ensure NBCC and its learners continue to make a significant contribution to New Brunswick.”
A founding partner of the Fredericton law firm of Elliott McCrea Hill, L. Paul Elliott has served as a member of NBCC’s Board of Governors since 2014. He is a past president of Business Fredericton North and a past director for the Horizon Health Network. He currently acts as council member of the Canadian Bar Association – New Brunswick branch.
Patrick Lacroix has been a member of the NBCC Board of Governors since 2015. With a career that spans over 20 years of progressively senior public affairs experience, Patrick is currently the Manager of Stakeholder Relations at TransCanada responsible for engagement and consultation for the Energy East Project in New Brunswick.
The NBCC Board also recently welcomed five new Governors:
- Donna Bovolaneas, Beaver Harbour
- Lindsay Bowman, Fredericton
- Derek Burchill, Miramichi
- Jennifer O’Donnell, Fredericton
- Elizabeth Watters-Gray, Perth-Andover
“We have an exciting year ahead at NBCC as we begin to implement our next strategic plan,” said Marilyn Luscombe, President and CEO of NBCC. “We know we can count on the foresight, counsel and good governance of our Board of Governors and we welcome the leadership Paul and Patrick will bring to their roles. We also want to thank outgoing Chair, Susan Murchison, for her tireless commitment to NBCC as Board Chair over the past year and as a member of the Board of Governors since 2011.”
