NBCC students going for gold at National Skills Canada Competition

FREDERICTON – This year, 13 New Brunswick Community College students and apprentices will represent New Brunswick at the national Skills Canada competition

Since January 2017, approximately 250 New Brunswick students and apprentices have participated in the provincial Skills competitions. Gold medalists from each trade and skill category in the provincial competitions have been invited to represent Team New Brunswick at the national competition. This year Team New Brunswick is sending 39 competitors.

This will be one of the largest contingents of NBCC students and apprentices competing at the national event.

“On behalf of NBCC, I want to say how proud we are of our 13 students and apprentices who have earned spots on Team New Brunswick and at the national Skills Canada competition,” said Marilyn Luscombe, president and CEO of NBCC. “The continued success of NBCC students at Skills Canada events, at both the provincial and national levels, is a testament to the quality and dedication of our instructors and programs.”

The national Skills Canada competition brings together more than 500 young people from all regions of Canada to participate in more than 40 skilled trade and technology competitions. The 2017 national event is being hosted in Winnipeg, Manitoba from May 31 – June 1.
