Inclusion Module Study Abroad in Finland

Here’s your chance to participate in a 10-day Inclusion-themed study abroad program at Luovi Vocational College in Oulu, Finland with students from Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Portugal and Nova Scotia Community College.

Believing that every individual is unique and deserves equal rights and opportunities in society, Luovi Vocational College offers vocational special needs education and training (VET) for young people. They are organizing a study abroad opportunity designed to empower young people to promote equality and inclusion. Over the course of the module, participants will learn how to champion inclusion in various settings, recognize strengths, and advance equality and equity. The module will also focus on developing personal and leadership skills, enhancing cultural awareness, and ensuring psychological safety in the workplace.

Throughout the module, various activities will be organized to allow students to experience the unique and enriching Finnish culture, traditions, and lifestyle.

Dates of Study in Finland: May 7 - 17, 2025


Housing

Students will stay in Nallikari Villas, located on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Each villa accommodates four students and is equipped with a kitchen, a bathroom, and its own sauna (it’s Finland, after all!). Additionally, students will have access to bicycles.


Cost

The BIDS Inclusion module, funded by Erasmus+, will select two students and one NBCC instructor to participate. Each participant will receive a subsidy to cover their travel costs.


Application Prerequisites

  • Open to any current NBCC student interested in deepening their awareness of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid passport by April 4, 2025 (Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry in Finland).
