Senior students in the Information Technology program at NBCC learned mechatronics through trial and error in instructor Joe Marriott’s Alternate Solutions class. Mechatronics is a new term describing a mix of mechanical engineering and programming, replacing the term robotics.
Students were split into seven groups, and each group developed an innovative project over the course of the year. Groups displayed their projects at the Amazeatorium Expo in Saint John at the end of the 2016-17 school year, demonstrating their programming skills and problem-solving abilities with their finished projects.
