The Contact Lens Fitting Program is designed to train qualified Opticians in the art of fitting, assessing, manipulating, removing, and evaluating contact lenses. This program is intended for individuals who are interested in advancing their career and seeking relevant licensure with their provincial regulatory body.
30 weeks (2 - 15 week terms) = 8 months total.

Learners are required to enter into an apprenticeship agreement with the Opticians Association of New Brunswick prior to participating in mandatory laboratory and practical experiences.
Specific Immunizations: healthcare practitioners must follow the directives of the Province as and when required.
Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks: to qualify for registration as an Optician in New Brunswick, any applicant must provide a current (within the last 60 days) copy of a criminal background check including a vulnerable sector screening.
Please be advised that our programs may require learners to engage in off-site practicum/learning experiences, potentially involving travel to locations beyond the campus of their enrollment. It is important to note that the associated travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the individual learner. Please plan accordingly and explore cost-effective options to meet the program requirements.
Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the practicum settings. Students must also assume costs of accommodations if part, or all, of the practicum placement is outside their hometown or campus location. Term two is a six-week practicum experience.

NBCC is a connected learning environment. All programs require a minimum specification, including access to the internet and a laptop. Your computer should meet your program technology requirements to ensure the software required for your program operates effectively. Free wifi is provided on all campuses.
