This course is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of security principles and practices as it relates to the NICE Framework. Students explore historical events, their impact on the evolution of the profession and emerging
trends. In addition, they examine human and technical vulnerabilities in order to employ mitigation strategies and security defence techniques.

The course is designed for IT professionals, preferably with two years’ work experience in the field, or for individuals with five or more years of work experience and an expressed interest in the cybersecurity industry.
This course is college credit and upon successful completion may be used towards regular Cybersecurity programs at NBCC.
Participants who complete this course will be awarded a digital badge in Cybersecurity: Security Concepts.
To increase your skills, follow up by taking the Cybersecurity: Risk Analysis and Cybersecurity: Legal and Ethics badge courses to be awarded a Super Badge in Cybersecurity: Security Management.
Payment of course fees is required at time of registration. We accept cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard, Money Order or cheque payable to New Brunswick Community College (NBCC).
Participants must be at least 16-years old, unless otherwise noted.
Books are available at the bookstore, prices quoted are approximate. The same payment methods listed above are accepted. There are no refunds for textbooks or materials.
Withdrawal/Refunds: Requests for withdrawal from Continuing Education courses must be made within 20% of course duration. Refunds may take 4-6 weeks to process. An administrative fee may apply.
