Course Overview

This course provides students with the fundamentals of analysis and recording of financial transactions for the complete accounting cycle.

  1. Identify what accounting is and why it is important.
  2. Understand accounting terminology.
  3. Know how to analyze, quantify, compare and present financial data pertinent to specific forms of businesses.
  4. Know how to make corrections and adjustments to financial data.
  5. Know how to prepare the Income Statement, Statement of Owner's Equity and Balance Sheet.
  6. Understand why and how to close the financial books of the business.
  7. Account for merchandising activities, including the use of different inventory systems, sales discounts, sales returns and allowances, cost of goods sold and gross profit.
  8. Assign inventory costs using different methods.
  9. Understand internal control, petty cash systems, bank reconciliations

Participants must be at least 16-years old, unless otherwise noted.

Books are available at the bookstore, prices quoted are approximate. The same payment methods listed above are accepted. There are no refunds for textbooks or materials.

Withdrawal/Refunds: Requests for withdrawal from Continuing Education courses must be made within 20% of course duration. Refunds may take 4-6 weeks to process. An administrative fee may apply.
