Mathieu Savoie

Class of 2011 - Moncton Campus - Electronics Engineering Technology

After graduating the college, I accepted a job offer with Ledcor Technical Services as a field operations technician in Moncton, NB. I quickly built my skills in troubleshooting and repair, and was soon promoted to a team lead role performing installations of network infrastructure. I worked on the national fiber optic backbone, and assisted in connecting newly laid sub-sea fiber optic cables to the on-shore network equipment.

During a slow period between major projects, I was offered an opportunity to travel to northern Alberta to work for Schlumberger, the world leader in technology and integrated project management for the oil and gas industries. I worked throughout the western region on numerous oil and gas projects by providing communications technical support to the operations staff.

Once the workload in Atlantic Canada increased again, I was able to return to my position with Ledcor Technical Services in Moncton, and continued working on region-wide telecommunications infrastructure projects. In 2014 I was promoted to regional manager of the Quebec and Atlantic Regions.

In 2015 I joined Missing Link Technologies as a project manager and have been working on extensive capital improvement projects in the telecom sector. My work revolves around operational expenditure reductions through optimizing existing facilities, designing modular expansions, and integrating efficient "best practices" from the industry.
