The Council of Student Executives of New Brunswick Community College held a successful referendum of the students to establish a Health and Dental Insurance program. This plan provides extended health and dental benefits for each full-time NBCC student.
The plan is mandatory for all full-time students in regular programs 20 weeks or more. Part-time students are not covered under the plan.
For the latest costs please view the Tuition & Fees page.
You will have one opportunity to purchase family coverage for your spouse and/or dependant(s) by completing an application form, submitting it to the on-campus Student Benefits Representative and paying the family coverage fee.
Students who are new to the plan will have a validation period of between 45 and 60 days. During this time, benefits can be accessed, however, claims must be held until after the validation period has passed. After the validation period, new students are activated to the plan. They may use their drug card and submit any manual claims for reimbursement.
We recognize students may have alternate health and dental insurance coverage. If you already have comparable extended coverage, you must apply to waive or opt out of the plan (please refer to Academic Calendar for deadlines). Provincial health plans are not considered comparable coverage, as they do not include all the benefit categories included in the student plan. To opt out of the plan, you can complete the waiver form either online at www.mystudentplan.ca/nbcc or you can complete the form manually and send it with proof of your alternate coverage to the Benefits Office.
The mystudentplan.ca/nbcc website is designed to maximize service to students and provide you with additional information that makes using the Health and Dental plan easier. Students who are opting out of the plan can complete the form online, while students remaining on the plan can create and download their customized myBenefits Card.
