Dana R. Johnston

Class of 1977 - Saint John Campus - Civil Engineering Technology - Material Testing & Inspection

After working for the NB DOT as a survey technologist, I relocated to British Columbia in 1981 and was employed by BC Hydro Gas Division (now FortisBC) shortly after arriving. Since then, I have held a number of positions in Engineering and Field Operations.  Most recently I led a small group of specialists in implementing and evolving asset management for the more than $3 billion in assets.  Currently I hold the position of Director, Infrastructure Program Development and have been working on a methodology to assess asset health and develop a 20 year capital planning process.  I plan to retire in February.  The training I received at NBCC certainly opened a number of doors for me and I have been fortunate to continuously learn and expand my horizons in ways that would not have been possible without the diploma.
